A Day Off The Piste
Oh how quickly things can change? I did a report just yesterday but today deserved another.
When I saw the clear blue sky this morning and heard the snow report say there was only “a dusting”, I thought a couple of early quick runs down the Supertrail would be it for me.
First run was nice, better than yesterday’s first run but with a few snow boulders on the run below Bunny Walk station. The second run was OK and then into the Basin to get freshies off the side of the T-bar. This was a pleasant surprise and after a couple of runs on 5cms of untracked we decided that Signature Hill was going to be nice. By the time we climbed to the top there were 5 of us. The descent was enjoyable and then back into the resort the long way round. We had freshies all the way to High Noon and after a run on High Noon we were lucky to be in the right place at the right time as Antons T-bar was opened for the first time since the last snow falls.
This was sweet – all off piste, as no grooming had been done. Traversing across towards Sponars gave us more fresh tracks and then there were a couple of great runs on Wiamea as well.

Wiamea was sweet - Rosco's line and mine

Central Spur – closed for days and now well done
A most enjoyable morning. Probably the most untracked I’ve done in any one day this season. Some days you just can’t tell how it will turn out until you get out there and try it. Simply lovely.
